Revesby Estate Revesby Estate
Where tradion and quality are as one
Country Estate Tours
Revesby ChurchWe provide a quality, intimate tour. With us, you will not be lost in another crowd of people. We do not use tractors and trailers with mass tourism. We use a single high specification Land Rover Defender 110. This Land rover is off road ready, as parts of the tour are off road.

Our tours captivate the specific areas of interest on our traditional family Estate. We are enthusiastic approachable and like to think knowledgeable!

Our tours can be formed around your wishes, our main areas are History, Wildlife and Agriculture. Our tours last approximately 2 hours.

Historic Tours

The Estate has a wealth of history spanning from the Viking invasion and the Roman conquerors to the Second World War (underground bunker). We bring many centuries of Revesby Estate history alive.
Agriculture
Revesby Estates most influential owner was the naturalist Sir Joseph Banks (4th Joseph Banks of Revesby) who accompanied and financed Captain James Cook on his epic round the world voyage between 1768 and 1771. Sir Joseph Banks brought many species of plants (and kangaroos) back to the Estate.

The Land Rover tour is the back bone, however we also have a mini Exhibition, and visit Revesby church. Our mini Exhibition includes artefacts ranging back to 250BC, artists impressions and extremely interesting sir Joseph Banks Documentation with royal seals.

We are passionate and know local stories; quality is always in the detail. We want you not just to understand the past but feel it.

It has to be stressed that the standing abbey never belonged to Sir Joseph Banks and is not owned by Revesby Estate. We do however visit the original site of Sir Joseph Banks Abbey.

Wildlife

We have a wealthy mix of Flora and Fauna. Our Flora includes ancient woodlands, special trees and rare plants. The explorer Sir Joseph Banks brought bank many interesting species of trees some of which survive to date. Ever year we plant over 1500 trees, our oldest trees are around 400 years old.

The Fauna on the Estate is also very mixed. The habitats range from fenland to foot hills , woodlands to water. We are very privileged in having a 35 acre reservoir with many interesting animals e.g. king fishers. The wildlife on the Estate ranges from Buzzards to deer. The deer populations on the Estate include Roe, fallow and Muntjac.

Agriculture

CattleRevesby Estate is strongly dependant on Agriculture. The Estates has a mixed system. The Arable system consists of 3 main areas, Combinable crop production, Root and field vegetable crop production and Environmental protection. The extensive stock system consists of 620 sheep and 56 Longhorn and Highland cattle.

With our agriculture tour we explain the entire process from planting to harvest and then to sale or from breeding to sale. It is a great way to fully understand your food.

The charge for our tour is £10 a person, (lasts approx 2 hours includes tea or coffee), Bookings can be made all year around.

We really hope your experience will be personal and unforgettable.

"I would like to thank you for the tour of Revesby you kindly gave us a few weeks ago. My parents, Heather and I all thoroughly enjoyed the tour, which was made all the more interesting by your enthusiasm and knowledge."

"I very much appreciated the fact that you concentrated on Joseph Banks so much as you did and it was truly fascinating to see the scroll and seal at the end of our visit."

"I am sure my interest in the life of Sir Joseph Banks will only increase, so I am sure I'll visit you again."
