‘Take a Moment’ – October 2024
Autumn is a colourful time of year, a favourite of many of us. Harvest may be over for some, it used to be all brown fields harvested and ploughed ready for spring drilling, these days many will soon be drilled with spring crops and greening over again.
Many farms are still busy as already the sugar beet is being lifted, fields are full of lovely vedge waiting to be lifted, to keep us fed for the winter, and cattle are soon to be brought into a nice warm bedded crew there’s no time to rest!
But still there will be time for ride out in the countryside, especially through tree lined villages and rural roads, it’s a must. The leaves now are beginning to get their autumn glow, displaying the yellows, golds and reds we love to see.
A walk in the woods with the lovely watery light shining through the trees does your soul good.
The temptation (particularly for me!) is when the days grow colder will be to house ourselves up in the warm and view it all from the window.
Let’s get, (I must get) wrapped up get out and enjoy an autumn stroll, and see the landscape gently changing before our eyes, nature preparing itself for colder days ahead.
It can still put a smile on our faces, it does mine, to walk through wet grass covered in leaves and kick them all about, just like we did when we were kids, happy days! Mind any hedgehogs though!

A smile can be a ray of sun to brighten up the dark.
A smile can show a sense of fun has made its merry mark.
A smile can be the guiding light that hope can often bring.
A smile can be a happy sight try smiling – that the thing!
